March 2025 Procreate Designs

Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work.  I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since.   While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad.  No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies.  This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation.  I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate.  My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process.   The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was.  There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table.  The other bonus ...

Tying the Knot - Abstract and Florals

I'm back with more abstracts.  I told you that I loved this technique!  I also recently bought some additional stencils specifically for this technique that I'll be sharing soon.  Why do I love this technique so much?  Let's start with the fact that there are so many design possibilities.  It lends a modern touch to cards when using soft colors.  It can make a statement with the use of bolder colors.  Layering colors and stamps never creates the same design twice.  Today's card is a soft modern take on a wedding card.

I started this card with my Distress Inks and stencils.  I always build my abstracts by starting with the largest elements first, then filling in with smaller elements as I go.  This panel began with my largest shape and Bundled Sage, then I added Saltwater Taffy, and finished by adding Salvaged Patina to balance the composition.

I pulled a couple of Simon Says Stamp stamp sets from my stash and added my floral elements to build a spray in opposite corners.  I wanted the floral elements to be slightly offset, yet balanced.  The sentiment also came from Simon Says Stamp.  I love a mixed-font greeting, especially when combined with a size variation like I used here.

To complete this card I pulled out the trusty stitched rectangles to trim my panel.  Once I had a trimmed panel I adhered it to a kraft card base.  I added a little glam with a sprinkling of clear sequins.
