Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. It's no secret that I'm a Distress Ink addict. One of my favorite things to do is to watercolor with them, and as of late I'm hooked on layering them to create depth. The steps I used to create this card are very similar to the steps I used to create the Merry & Bright Card and the Bright Snowflakes Card.
I began by layering Distress Oxides to create a background. Once I had a background I was happy with I stamped the poinsettias using Versamark ink, then shook on gold embossing powder. After heat setting the embossing powder, I pulled the matching Distress inks and squished them onto my glass mat. Using the ink as watercolor I layered on the matching ink color to the area I was painting.
The watercolor panel was then added to a gold mat and adhered to a kraft card. Then finished with the word peace die cut from the same gold paper as the mat.
