Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
When my mojo comes back it comes back strong. I just thought I'd share all the cards I made in the last week. 24 cards in 7 days is a lot of cards. My average seems to be four, but some days it was only one and others it was a few more.
These six are all made using scraps from other cards I created. I love my Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks so much that I never toss a scrap of it. I really love the clean and simple look of these.
This is round two of using up some scraps. I did a bit of die cutting and paper piecing for some added interest.
Round four used up the last of the scraps and I did a couple of hombre butterflies for accents. You can see I even use the little strips.
These lovely cards were all inspired by Kelly Latevola and the card she did for the recent Simon Says Fluttering By Release Blog Hop. I worked with my Distress Oxides and embossed the butterflies and dragonfly. If you follow me on Instagram you know how I fixed the mistake on the dragonfly card.
Friday I had to do just one more of those faux watercolor cards. I like the yellow, but the dragonfly gets a little lost. Next time I will use black embossing powder with the lighter colors.
Saturday I only had time for this watercolor card. This is an older Stampin' Up stamp that is retired, but I found mine on eBay. This card was time-consuming and came with a learning curve. I started by stamping the image using my stamp positioner and leaving the flower in my positioner. I then did the watercolring. Once the watercolor was dry I restamped the image and added the hugs sentiment.
Yesterday's creations were all over the board with techniques - Watercolor, Ink Blending, Inktense Pencils, and one more scrap buster. I'll be doing a more detailed post of the Mother's Day card using the Inktense pencils later this week.
