March 2025 Procreate Designs

Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work.  I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since.   While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad.  No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies.  This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation.  I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate.  My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process.   The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was.  There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table.  The other bonus ...

The Stamp Market “Hi” - Using Small Die Cuts

I was inspired by my bestie over at By Grace Everett. She put a lot of little die cuts to work collage style with this “K” and I just loved it!! Naturally, I had to steal like a card artist and try it myself. I had to find a way to put a spin on it that would work with what I had in my stash.

I started by cutting the large “hi” from white. This die creates both letters and an outline.  Next, I dug through my stash of die cuts.  I have a tendency to use up scrap paper by cutting small die cuts for later use.  I pulled some small flowers and tiny hearts.  The tiny hearts filled gaps in my design, as well as created the effect of leaves.  I used scissors to trim anywhere the flowers hung off the letters.

Using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut a kraft panel, then added the letters.  The easiest way to work with the outline seems to be laying out the inner letter first and then using a bit of liquid glue to line up the outline around the letter.  I wanted to keep the design clean and simple.  I adhered the panel onto a white card base and completed the design by adding enamel dots from my stash to the flower centers.
