Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. Hello Lovely. I hope you're finding inspiration in the challenge posts I've been creating. They're helping get me out of some of my crafting ruts. Today I have a card for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge. As promised I used pattern paper in this design.
This is Sketch Challenge #395. MFT products are encouraged, but not required. I chose to use some MFT products because I have a few in my stash.
I started with the MFT Because You stamp & die set, VersaFine Onyx Black ink, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles dies, and a pad of Simple Stories Vintage Bliss pattern paper.
I pulled some solid paper from my scrap stash and grabbed a pale grey card base. I trimmed a piece of pattern paper to 4 x 5 1/4-inches. I cut a circle with the largest of the stitched circle dies from pale grey paper that matched the card base. Then I added texture to it with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. I used a bit of Fossilised Amber Distress Ink to ink the edges of my yellow banner I hand cut from goldenrod paper. I stated with peach, as you see in the upper right of the photo, but elected for the yellow as it popped.
I layered the yellow banner and pale grey "because" together. I stamped "I love you" close to the tail end of the pale grey banner with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then trimmed the end off to fit the space I had on the banner. To add a bit of embellishment I inked a white paper flower with the Fossilised Amber Distress Ink and add a creamy yellow brad to the center. I added the banner to my card with foam tape and attached it at an angle to match the sketch, then adhered the flower with Multi Medium Matte.
This sketch was a little challenging for me, but I succeeded. Thanks for swinging by today. I hope this card inspires you to use your pattern paper and try out some of the many sketch challenges out there.
