Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
We're 10 Days into July and I've been in a card making frenzy! The downside? I'm behind on blog posts a bit, but it's all good.
These cards are inspired by this pin from I'm in Haven.
Of course, I put my spin on this bit of inspiration. The red on red didn't work for me, I opted to use a pale grey card base. I used the Air Vent die from Simon Says Stamp to create the vent holes (this die is no longer available). I stamped "Merry Christmas" along the vents in VersaMark ink and embossed it with WOW Bright White Embossing Powder.
The snowflakes are die cut from white cardstock, covered in VersaMark ink and then embossed with WOW Hologram Embossing Powder. Two coats of this embossing powder creates beautiful sparkly snowflakes.
Now let's pull this card together. I mounted the red panel onto the pale grey card base. This helped the vents pop a bit more than they did when I tried the red on red look.
Four snowflakes were attached to each card using Multi Medium Matte. I left the edges free for a bit of a texture effect. Then I added a gem to the middle of each snowflake for that added bit of glimmer.
The end result is a stunning set of four red and cheerful cards for the coming holiday season.
