March 2025 Procreate Designs

Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work.  I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since.   While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad.  No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies.  This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation.  I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate.  My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process.   The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was.  There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table.  The other bonus ...

Casing Pinterest - Latte Love

If you've never heard of casing, the traditional meaning of casing in the card world is - CASE - Copy And Steal Everything.  In my making it's a bit more of casing in the sense of canvassing looking for ideas and then using what I have rather than copying the idea.  If you follow Ardyth Percy Robb on Youtube it's similar to her LIMES method.

When I'm stumped for ideas or feel blocked creatively I usually hop on Pinterest and scroll through the ideas I've pinned.  I pick a design that pops out at me and I run with it.

This design caught my eye because of the red and white sentiment.  I also loved the idea of a coffee card.  From here I set about using the inspiration card as a sketch to follow for the layout combined with coffee and the red and white sentiment.

I started with a patterned paper that would coordinate with the red and white sentiment idea, which happened to be some mini polka-dot paper.  Following the card layout of the inspiration card, I dropped a small circle in the lower right corner.  I pulled coffee stamps out and Copic colored my cup.  I used a tag to build my sentiment strip.  For the finish touches, I pulled some red gems from my stash.
