March 2025 Procreate Designs

Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work.  I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since.   While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad.  No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies.  This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation.  I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate.  My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process.   The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was.  There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table.  The other bonus ...

Stitched Cards Using MFT's Tag Dies

Hello Lovely.  In the words of my friend Kelly Latevola, it's been a hot minute since I wrote a blog post.  If you don't know Kelly, I suggest you check her out.  I love her videos and coloring, but most of all I love her story time.  When you're done here go watch one of her videos and you'll see what I mean.

I'm gonna skip all the gory details of why I took a blogging break and just say there were some things in our family that were a bit more distracting than I could handle with my busy work schedule.  So now that all of those things are tamed back down I'll start focusing on writing again.  Anywho...let's talk about the cards.

I had to travel for work last week, so did a bit of stitching while I was on the road.  It pays to be the passenger.  Stitching on the go is the best way I've found to travel with my card making hobby so far.  I enjoy making kits to take on the go, but the stitching is much easier to grab and go when I don't have time to plan.

For all three of these, I used the MFT Stitched Tag die and some of their free patterns.  The baby feet and this butterfly are two of my favorite patterns.  I really need to branch out and make a few more of the snowflakes.

I cut a stack of tags and tuck them in an Iris Container, always ready to grab and go.  The container is dropped in a large zippered back with needles, round tip scissors, thread and needle threader.  I tuck completed tags back into the Iris Container until I get back home.

Once I'm back in the studio I complete the tags and add them to cards.  Unlike the scalloped stitched die this one has a tag topper and hole reinforcer, which gives the card a smart finish.
