Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. Hello Lovely. Today I have a card a made last week. Let me start by saying I love this background stamp from Taylored Expressions. It's so fun to color. For this version, I used my Copics.
I started this card, with no real direction. I knew I wanted to stamp and color the Color Me Background from Taylored Expression, but how this would come together wasn't really clear. I stamped the image onto a white panel using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink, because it's Copic friendly. As I colored I started thinking about fussy cutting part of the design. I completed the portion of the design I wanted to fussy cut and inked the edges of the piece using a black Pigma pen. I then adhered the piece to a white card panel.
Of course, we all know I can't seem to make a card front without using the Stitched Rectangles dies from Simon Says Stamp. I used the largest rectangle and die cut the card front, which gave it a more polished look. I wanted to keep the rest of the design simple. I didn't want to take away from the hand coloring.
I elected to use a sentiment from the Words Defined set by Mama Elephant. I stamped the sentiment using my favorite VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then completed the card by adding it to a pine green card base.
