Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
Hi Lovely. Are you a die cut hoarder like me? Do you cut dies for a card and then change your mind, only to stash those bits for later use? Maybe you and your crafting bestie swap die cuts like I do with mine. Whatever your die cutting stash hoarding, I mean stash building ways are, I'm here with a stash busting idea today. If you follow me on Instagram you've already seen these fun cards, but here's the detail on the make.
I'm not gonna lie, there's a little tiny bit of ink blending here. I used my favorite Stitched Rectangles die from Simon Says Stamp to cut four panels from craft card stock. Because all of the flowers had some shade of purple I opted to use some Distress Ink in Dusty Concord to distress the panel and add a bit of depth to the card. Then I mounted the kraft panel onto a white card base. The other bits were already cut and in my stash.
The Happy Birthday die is one I picked up at local scrapbook store when we were home last year and the flowers are built from several of the Sizzix flower die sets. One of the sets has been retired, but I've linked to the other sets below.
I used the Zig 2-Way Glue Squeeze & Roll glue pen to adhere the happy birthday die. I like this glue because it has a ballpoint pen tip for fine lines and is perfect for tiny bits or detailed dies. The flowers were layered together with a brad and then adhered to the card with Ranger Multi Medium in Matte. Simple, but great for using some of those die cuts hanging out in my stash drawer.
Thanks for swinging by today. I hope this inspires you to use those stashed little bits you have in that dusty drawer or basket.
