Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. Hello Lovely. Today's card is another shopping my stash card with some inspiration from another Laura Bassen card. Laura did a fabulous card for the release of the Simon Says Stamp Limited Edition Thank You Card Kit that was inspired by the postage stamps included in the kit. I love the stamp set that's included in the kit, but I knew I had some similar flower stamps in another stamp set I already own. Let's check out the card.
I started this card with the black stripes, using the Echo Park Glamor Stipe stencil and Distress in Black Soot. Once I had the strips on the bottom half of my white panel I laid out my stamps to get a feel for how to build my top portion. I used the flowers and leaves from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Flowers stamp set. The larger flowers are stamped with Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and then the details are stamped with Broken China. The smaller flower was stamped with Broken China and the details were stamped in Mermaid Lagoon. I did all of the leaves with Bundled Sage.
I completed white panel by stamping Thank you from the retired Simon Says Stamp Thanks for Being There stamp set in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I added a bit of a drop shadow around the flowers and leaves using a C0 and C1 Copic markers. I completed this nearly one layer card by die cutting this panel with my Stitched Rectangles die from Simon Says Stamp and adhered it to a card base that matched the Tumbled Glass ink nicely.
