Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. Hi Lovely. Today's cards are a few more for your ink blending inspiration box. This really is my favorite technique and as I've said before, a great way to create several cards in a short amount of time. I used four Distress Ink colors and created two different looks.
The jewel tone blend I got really seems to lend itself to Fall. I used the Stencil Masking Technique that I love so much. I started by creating a mask from a full stick Post-it note by die cutting one of the smaller frames in the We R Memory Keepers Frames 2 die set, then placed the mask onto a piece of white cardstock. I laid the Echo Park Simply Plaid stencil over the top.
Side note - I've recently sprayed all of my stencils with Krylon Easy-Tack repositionable adhesive. What a difference that makes when ink blending with my stencils.
Once the stencil was in place I blended Distress Inks in Chipped Saphire, Seedless Preserve, Victorian Velvet and Dried Marigold; blending from top to bottom in that order. For the card on the left, I removed the stencil, left the mask in place and added a second blend of ink over the top to fill in the plaid. I stamped the sentiment using the retired Papertrey Ink Thanks All Ways and Avery Elle Simply Said Hello stamp sets using VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Of course, I cut both panels using my favorite stitched rectangles from Simon Says Stamp and mounted them on to plum and navy card bases.
