Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
Hello Lovely. We've made it to hump day the weekend is closer than we think. I'm ready for it, and I'll be honest I'm a little excited because there might be Indian food. Yep, I get excited about food. Anywho... let's talk about these cards. I've been thinking about all the girly cards I make and thinking that I really need to make more masculine cards. This is just a start, which of course had to include ink blending.
For the card on the left, I started with a kraft panel and the retired Bubbles from the Deep stencil from Echo Park and blended Distress Ink in Rusty Hinge ink over top. I removed the stencil and used my Clarity Stencil Brushes to add a light blend of ink over top. You know what happened next, I cut it with my famous Stitched Rectangles from Simon Says Stamp. Then came the fun part, building the sentiment using the Honey Bee Stamps Happiness and Kindness stamp sets, which I stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I mounted the panel onto a rust colored card base. Nearly a one layer card.
The card on the right is also a kraft panel with ink blending. I used the same Bubbles from the Deep stencil and blended Distress Ink in Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, and Carved Pumpkin. Then I shifted the stencil and added some Perfect Pearls in Perfect Bronze over the stencil. I set the Perfect Pearls with a few mists of water. I also cut this panel with the same Stitched Rectangles dies. I built the sentiment for this card using the Honey Bee Stamps Happiness set and stamped it in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I completed the card by mounting the panel onto the same rust colored card base.
Thanks for swinging by today. I know the font on these is a bit more feminine, but I think it's a good start to working on masculine cards.
