Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. Hello Lovely. Today's card was a challenge, I'm not gonna lie. Let's just say it, I had to go out and come in again to get this design idea to work. I found this awesome idea on Pinterest, but I just didn't have the right things to create the layers that I found so inspiring. I had to scrap the original start to my design and start over. Let's talk about what I did.
I started by creating a mask for my card using the KaiserCraft Nesting Hearts Dies and the Inkadinkado Masking Paper. I applied the mask to my white panel, leaving only the heart open for stamping. I stamped the largest image from the Pure Prairie Spirit from Power Poppy Stamps using a combination of Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, and Bundled Sage. I used my mini Distress Ink pads to smoosh ink in various places on the stamp to create a bit of shading interest. Once my image was stamped I removed the mask.
I stamped the "Happy" using the Neat & Tangled Happy Holidays stamp set and VersaFine Onyx Black ink. The "Happy Birthday" label was created using the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Flowers Stamp Set. Before adding the label I die cut the white panel with my favorite Stitched Rectangles dies from Simon Says Stamp and adhered it to a green card base. I popped the label up using some foam tape to complete the card.
