Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. Hello Lovely. If you've followed my blog for any length of time you know I'm a lover of the ink blend. This is by far, my favorite technique and I'm always looking for new ideas for my ink blending in my card making. These were inspired by these cards from Pinterest.
Each card started with a white panel. I used Post-It Tape to mask off the top and bottom of each panel. I created the panels one at a time, so I reused the same pieces of masking for all three. Each card is also stamped with a sentiment from the Avery Elle Sentiments Too stamp set. The dragonfly came from an unbranded stamp set I had in my stash. I completed each card by cutting each white panel with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies from the Simon Says Stamp Set, matted each panel on black cardstock and then adhered each to a white card base.
The first ink blend was created with Distress Inks in Faded Jeans, Broken China, and Crushed Olive.
The second ink blend was created with Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, and Abandoned Coral.
The third ink blend was created with Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Scattered Straw, and Worn Lipstick.
