Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
Hello Lovely. It's Thursday, which means we're one day closer to Friday! Anyone else having issues coming to grips with the fact that it's August!!?? I'm not ready for Fall.
Today's card was an experiment, one I honestly didn't like the result of. I'm sharing it because we all make cards we don't love and it's a reminder that what we make doesn't have to be perfect. It's all trial and error, and we learn something every time we create a card. On with the card details.
I started by blending a background with Distress Oxide Inks onto Canson Watercolor paper. I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, and Peacock Feathers. With the background complete I used my Distress Sprayer to splatter with clean water and dried the panel with my heat gun. I used the fish from the Simon Says Stamp Under the Sea set. Using a stamp positioner, I stamped the image twice, once with Peacock Feathers and once with Evergreen Bough. I grabbed a small stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Hello Friends set to create the fish bubbles using the same layered ink stamping as the fish. I used the That Is All set from WPlus9 to stamp Birthday Wishes using Worn Lipstick and Cracked Pistachio to create a bit of an ombre effect. I completed the card by cutting it with the largest of the Wonky Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp and mounting the panel on a white card base.
Thanks for swinging by. I hope this inspires you to experiment more.
