Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
Hello Lovely. Let's be a bit candid before we talk about today's card. Last week was a flurry of activity and I was pulled in a number of different directions. School started last week, while we don't have kids I work in education and the first few days of school are always an adjustment. Hubby and I also got new cell phones and had issues activating them. I'll spare you the details, but it included a three-hour round trip drive last Thursday day to fix the issues. Hence, the reason there was no blog post on Friday. I'm also already behind for this week, as I didn't create and write as I should have over the weekend. Few, now that we have all that out of the way let's talk about this card.
This was my first card created with the Copic markers I bought a couple of weeks ago. If you follow me on Facebook, you'll know that I picked up some of the cool grays, a couple of the BG markers and a colorless blender. I opted to purchase the Caio rather than the sketch and I'm hooked. Yesterday I placed an order on the Copic website for a few more colors.
I used the Simon Says Stamp Favorite Puperoni stamp set and My Favorite Things Hybrid Ink in Black Licorice to stamp the cute puppy onto a Strathmore Mixed Media panel to create a Yana Smakula inspired background. I filled in the open spaces with the "hello" from the Papertrey Ink Communique Sentiments Mini Stamp Set and tucked in a few tiny hearts from the Favorite Puperoni set. I colored one of the puppies with the cool grays C1, C3, C5, and C7, then added some ground with BG72 and BG09. I die cut the panel with my favorite Stitched Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp and matted the colored panel onto black cardstock. I added copious amounts of foam tape to the back, then adhered it to a blue-green card base.
Thanks for swinging by today. I know this first card wasn't fancy but it was a good way to start learning about my new Copic markers. Have you joined the Copic following?
