Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work. I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since. While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad. No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies. This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation. I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate. My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process. The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was. There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table. The other bonus ...
Hello Lovely. Today I have a card for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge. This is my second time creating a card based on a sketch. Let's talk about this card.
This is Sketch Challenge #396. MFT products are encouraged, but not required.
The front panel of this card might look familiar, as it's one of the ink blended panels from last Friday's blog. I used Distress Inks in Tattered Rose, Scattered Straw, and Wild Honey to create an ink blend over the Dona Downey Bubbles Stencil. After I had a smooth blend I stamped the sentiment with a Thanks from the retired Thanks Always by Papertey Ink and So Much from Hello Sentiments by Joy Clair. Mixing stamp sets are a great way to get more mileage out of your sentiments.
I die cut with, you guessed it, my go-to Stitched Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp. I created an offset mat by using the Swiss Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug. I mounted the inked panel on the embossed mat, then added two black die cut arrows to complete the card.
Thanks for swinging by. I hope you've been inspired to try making cards using a sketch and jump-start your creativity.
