Hello Lovely. Today's blog post is a little bittersweet. When a friend loses someone near and dear to them we all do something to let them know we care and that we're there for them. Some take food to the family, others send flowers and notes of love and sympathy. I make cards. When something unexpected happens in someone's life and the world rushes in to help, there are always thank yous to send after the storm recedes. I make those cards and give them with love.
This past week was one of those weeks. I spent my weekend making 50 cards for a sweet friend of mine who lost her granddaughter. The community around her shared all kinds of support, love, food and more. She confessed that she had a long list of thank yous to write and I told her I would make the cards. There were no words, just a few tears and a long hug of thanks. I mentioned to a mutual friend that I was going to step up and do this and she said: "Let me buy the stamps".
Ok, with all that said, let's get to the cards because we all know that's why you're here.
When I need to make a lot of cards in a short amount of time I always turn to ink blending. For these cards, I cut a few masks from full stick post-it notes using some dies. I choose a heart and a circle as a way to spotlight a sentiment on each card. I used white cardstock for the panels and a variety of stencils from my stash. These are as close to one layer cards as I usually get. Each panel is cute with my favorite Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies and I added a Simon Says Stamp Butterfly die cut for a little bit of embellishment.
Not to brag, but when I set my mind to it I can create 50 cards in about three days. Here's a closer look at all the designs.
Thanks for swinging by. If your looking for more inspiration on using stencils go check out Jennifer McGuire's video - Masking Stencils. This is where I got my inspiration for these cards.
