March 2025 Procreate Designs

Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work.  I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since.   While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad.  No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies.  This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation.  I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate.  My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process.   The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was.  There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table.  The other bonus ...

Studio Reflection: Week 3

Sorry, this is later than I planned for it to be.  I've been busy working on the February Newsletter.  If you're interested in subscribing you can do that  HERE .  This is what last week looked like: I did some more Copic critter coloring. I spent some time writing out a few Happy Mail notes. I put the "guts" and branding on all of these cards and listed them in the shop. I hung a magnetic strip above my die cutting machine to stick the dies I''m currently using on. I finally got all of my thank you cards sent out for the Christmas and Birthday gifts received. Picked up some new DMC #3 thread for tags, had to put it all on bobbins. Thanks for swinging by.

Studio Reflection: Week 2

Week two looked like this: My clean desk didn't stay that way long. I created some fun Thank You cards. There was a custom order created with a bit of no-line water coloring. There was a second custom order created with some hand coloring. Who doesn't love some cat and do thank yous any way? I started fussy cutting some of the images I colored while we were on vacation. I paired these up to create some super cute Birthday cards, coming soon to the shop! Studio Reflection: Week 1

New Year, New Format. For the last week of 2018 and the first week of 2019, we were in Hawaii.  We've been home a little over a week. This year I've got new goals and plans for this space.  The blog will be going to weekly, with an occasional bi-weekly post and I'll also be writing posts in a new format.  The new format will include more behind the scenes pics along with a weekly wrap up of cards made.  You'll find clickable title links for those cards that are available in my shop for purchase.  You'll also find affiliate links for products I'm loving and using at the bottom of the posts. Week 1 Looked like this: Copic coloring while sitting on our third-floor lanai. I also did quite a bit of stitching while sitting in the warm tropical air. I rediscovered my love for Inktense pencils and enjoyed some time coloring by the ocean. I started a new journal for my one little word this year - Inspired. I even worked on ...

Distress Ink Blending - Sending Comfort

I made these back in October of 2018 and never had time to get them posted on the blog.  If you've followed my blog for any length of time you know that ink blending with stencils is one of my favorite go-to techniques.  These are the result of the fabulous technique of masking and stenciling.  The heart is masked before the ink blending is done with the stencil, then the stencil is removed and ink is blended over top to intensify the colors of the polka dots.
