March 2025 Procreate Designs

Looking back on the art I’ve been making for the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of digital work.  I started really delving into Procreate when we went on Vacation earlier this year, and I haven’t stopped exploring the possibilities since.   While planning for our vacation in late February and early March of his year I opted to take only my camera and iPad.  No knitting, no sketch book, no art supplies.  This was the first time I’d ever taken only my iPad, with the intent of creating art while on a vacation.  I had a plan to limit my supplies and challenge myself to only using procreate.  My plan worked, I learned a lot about procreate and I enjoyed to process.   The biggest thing I learned was how very freeing being able to sit on the couch or the porch at night with just an iPad and a pencil was.  There was no figuring out where to put supplies, or how to juggle a sketchbook on my lap, or being confined to the table.  The other bonus ...

Foliage Handmade Notecard

Background created on 96-pound Bristol paper with Distress Oxides using a watercolor technique, then stamped with a scripture background stamp.  Drawing created with Micron Pens and accented with a Uni-bal Signo white gel pen.  Card completed by mounting art panel onto black cardstock. Spring Tree Pen & Ink

Background created with Distress Inks, using a watercolor technique.   Micron Pens were used to bring the tree to life.   Drawing the main trunk of the tree. Branching out. Starting the leaves. More leaves. Hand drawing each individual leaf takes time. Spring Tree - SOLD

Pine Tree - Handmade Notecard

Drawn on grey cardstock with Micron Pens.  Background created using script stamp and edges blended with Distress Inks.  Mounted on white cardstock to complete the notecard.   Inspiration from a library book.  Sketched then ink started. Monogrammed Z

Distress Ink and Metalic Watercolor create the background on 140-pound watercolor paper.  The background was inspired by this aurora shot from Frostnip Photography .  Once the background was created, Micron Pens were used to draw the Monogrammed Z.  This piece was created as a gift.   Background completed with Distress Inks and Metalic Watercolors The beginning of the Z  Comparing my sketched idea with the art piece during creation Leaves are hand-drawn one by one. Leaves completed, now on to the groundwork. Monogrammed Z completed.
